Welcome!

It all started at Grandma’s house. She first taught me to sew by hand with a needle, and then later taught me to use her old pedal sewing machine. When I got into middle school, I took the class “Home Economics”, where we were taught to cook and sew. I made an oversized sweatshirt in that class which I wore into my late 20s.

I’ve always been really creative; making anything I either couldn’t afford, or couldn’t find. Through school, I created my own book covers, pencil box, and more. I just didn’t like looking like the other kids, many wearing the same clothes, carrying the same bags, etc. I was very good at personalizing my stuff.

This has served me well into my adulthood. As a very frugal person, I used these creative skills to save myself money and make a great life for my kids, which is important when raising a big family. I created home-made costumes (both for Halloween and School Plays), curtains, seat covers, seat cushions, and just about anything else you can make.

Having raised a child on the Autism spectrum, I also had to learn to create some assistive medical technology; weighted items. From weighted lap pads to blankets; it was so much more affordable to make them than to purchase them.

Later on, my husband and I were introduced to the game Corn Hole. After one tournament, we were hooked, and set out to purchase bags. After ordering 3 sets that all failed our specifications (durable), I set out to create a set for us. After working out all the kinks, I made us a very nice set, which others admired. Before long, friends and family asked me to make them some, and then pushed me to market them. Four years later, this market is doing very well. This is one of the situations where the “team” part of Team Sasquatch comes in. Without my husband and sons, I couldn’t create these. They aren’t as easy to make (well) as you think. We all have a job in this process, and I am thankful to have my team.

I started creating pillow cases after we bought a set of pillows, and the small ones didn’t come with cases. I went to Ebay to look for cases, but couldn’t find what I wanted; so I set out to create them. My husband encouraged me to put some up for sale, and we were shocked at how quickly they sold / sell.

Having Panic Disorder prevents me from working a normal job. This was a devastating diagnosis after I attended college and studied communication and social science to teach. I believe everything happens for a reason, and being forced to work from home has a purpose. I have improved many lives with my products, including a lot of children. So, there’s my reason.
